At present, manual operation is still widely adopted in the tapping procedure of domestic calcium carbide production, which is the most labor-intensive working stage with high labor costs. Tapping operations carry multiple occupational hazards including taphole injuries, burns, mechanical trauma, falling object impacts and electric shocks. Meanwhile, the working environment is extremely harsh with high temperature and heavy dust, imposing an extremely heavy workload on workers.
Our self-developed and self-manufactured E-Hydic calcium carbide furnace tapping robot system frees front-of-furnace operators from manual work featuring severe safety risks, heavy labor intensity and ultra-high furnace temperature. Operators can remotely control the robot via the human-machine interaction platform in the central control room to complete operations including direct bus connection, remote-controlled burning, automatic furnace hole tapping, automatic rodding with drill rod, automatic tap-hole plugging and furnace lip cleaning.
The system stabilizes production processes and boosts output, fully meeting the production demands of calcium carbide furnace front operations and significantly improving work efficiency. It realizes safe production while cutting labor force and lifting overall efficiency.
