At the meeting, persons in charge of the two project undertakers, the Chinese Academy of Engineering and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, reported the progress of the research project. Participants had in-depth exchanges and discussions on enriching and improving the project achievements, and put forward constructive suggestions.

Xin Guobin fully affirmed the phased results achieved in the research and put forward three requirements for follow-up research work. First, further deepen the research, systematically sort out the experience and models of intelligent manufacturing promotion across regions, and conduct an in-depth analysis of the actual demands of enterprises reflected in questionnaires. Second, enterprises and regions differ in resource endowments and adopt distinctive approaches to advance intelligent manufacturing; greater efforts shall be made to summarize and promote experience from individual sites, industrial chains and all regions. Third, properly coordinate the relations between intelligent manufacturing and the manufacturing power strategy, regional development as well as various national plans.

Xin Guobin stressed that the research team should speed up progress in accordance with the research work plan. The Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry shall strengthen project management and ensure the smooth completion of the soft science research project as scheduled.

More than 30 people attended the meeting, including Academician Liu Baicheng from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, several members of the Expert Advisory Committee on Intelligent Manufacturing, heads of relevant MIIT departments including the Department of Policies, Laws and Regulations, the Department of Planning, the Department of Finance and the Department of Equipment Manufacturing Industry, and representatives from the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and other institutions.
