MIIT Holds Forum on Energy Conservation, Emission Reduction and Green Development of Building Materials Industry During the 13th Five-Year Plan Period
Recently, the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) held separate forums in Beijing to discuss approaches to energy conservation, emission reduction and green development for the building materials industry and the equipment manufacturing industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Gao Yunhu, Director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization, presided over the meetings and delivered speeches. He pointed out that amid tightening constraints on resources, energy and the environment and the new normal of economic growth, more in-depth research shall be carried out on major issues concerning energy conservation, emission reduction and green development across all industries. Efforts shall be accelerated to boost industrial technological innovation capacity for energy saving and pollution reduction, fully implement green manufacturing, and earnestly deliver the green development strategy set forth in Made in China 2025.
Experts from institutions including China Building Materials Academy, China Building Materials Industry Planning and Research Institute, China Building Materials Federation, China Cement Association and China Building Sanitary Ceramics Association, as well as relevant executives from enterprises such as Jinyu Group, Nabel, Taiwan Glass, Lafarge (China) and China National Glass, attended the forum for the building materials sector and exchanged views on prominent existing problems and future pathways for energy conservation, emission reduction and green development of the industry.
For the equipment manufacturing sector, experts from the China Machinery Industry Federation, China Academy of Machinery Science and Technology and China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association, together with relevant persons-in-charge of enterprises including Chongqing Machine Tool, XCMG Group, SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, China State Shipbuilding Corporation, Hangzhou Boiler Works and BAIC Group, held discussions focusing on major challenges facing the industry and plans to advance energy saving, emission reduction and green development in the next stage.
