Our independently developed and manufactured E-Hydic submerged arc furnace tapping robot is the first of its kind in China and reaches the internationally advanced level. The system completely frees operators from harsh working conditions featuring high safety risks and high labor intensity. It also stabilizes production processes and significantly improves operational efficiency. The on-site staffing requirement for a single calcium carbide furnace is reduced from 7–8 workers to only 2, cutting production costs by over 2 million yuan per furnace annually, which realizes safety guarantee, staff reduction and efficiency improvement simultaneously.

The E-Hydic tapping robot consists of mechanical transmission system, hydraulic drive system, intelligent control system, video monitoring system, remote operation system, as well as special tools and auxiliary equipment.

Operators can remotely control the robot via the human-machine interaction platform in the central control room to complete automatic power connection, automatic burning, automatic furnace hole tapping, automatic rodding, automatic tap-hole plugging and furnace lip cleaning.
